MAPP - Amazing!
Well, the first day is over and I'm blown away. The class is everything I hoped it would be. Outstanding faculty and a student group with some simply amazing backgrounds, interests, skills and passions. About 3/4 are out-in-the-world working folks and 1/4 just out of undergraduate or another masters program and many of those headed toward PhD programs. Some were elite athletes, at least one is both an MD and a PhD, a celebrity (no names -- I don't have permission), executive coaches, HR folks, etc., etc. One from Scotland and one from Switzerland and one from Canada. Commuting! A woman in my small group moved here from Malaysia to take the course. Yep, quite a group.
In addition to the opening sessions, we got access to Penn's library resources today, which means access to academic journals. I've did a little poking around on topics that interest me during the library introduction (as did several other students!) and have already found some stuff I want to follow up on. I know this is dorky, but I was a Reader's Guide fan by 8th grade, so it feels a little like someone just handed me the keys to a treasure chest!
Oh, and I hadn't realized Penn was started by Benjamin Franklin. After law school at Mr. Jefferson's University, a/k/a UVA, this will be interesting.
Looking forward to tomorrow...

Hi Dave,
I've been reading your blog with interest, particularly the posts about the MAPP program. As someone with a long interest in positive psychology, I think it's great that the program is taking off.
Feel free to check out my site (www.RealScienceOfSuccess.com) and blog (www.RealScienceofSuccess.blogspot.com) -- I been working to popularize applied positive psychology for some time, and I think may find them of interest.
I look forward to reading more about your experiences and MAPP.
