Resilience Thinking is made up of a foundational set of what we call Thriving Adaptations - ways to approach the challenges of practicing law (and life) that will make you a better lawyer and more of the person you want to be. We know. We've not only studied the science behind these skills, we have applied them in our own lives and taught them to others. We can teach them to you.
Here's what you'll learn in Resilience Thinking for Lawyers:
Think-It-Through: We will teach you to accurately and flexibly think about the events - large and small, good and bad - that happen in your life every hour. You will learn to separate out the event, capture the default thoughts your brain pops up and notice how those thoughts drive emotions and reactions. You will gain self-awareness, and just this ability to step back and think clearly - even under pressure or when you are tired, and maybe especially then - will pay off for you.
RAMP-up: But you do not have to accept the default thoughts your brain pops up. We will show you how to work with your brain to generate more flexible and accurate alternatives. You will learn pragmatic optimism by using RAMP-up, Release, Alternatives, Mitigate, Plan.
Deep Patterns: Finally, you will learn how to uncover the deep patterns in your thinking that make you who you are, but may also on occasion be working against you. Some of these patterns are your what you deeply believe about the way the world is. Others are your core values. And, at times they can get in your way, cause confusing or out-of-proportion reactions, or keep you from following through on your commitments to change. We'll show you multiple ways to uncover these deep patterns.
